day seven flyingsushi t-shirt

Today I needed to make a stencil and use it in my project.Flyingsushi is the name of a club I used to have with some friends a couple of years ago. I cut the letters out with a craft knife and used a brush to apply fabric paint over it. And I put random splotches all over it to add a homemade look. I used a plain old t-shirt to put the stencils on. I used blue , silver, and gold fabric paint.

vegetable lady day 6

This is my vegetable lady! Her dress is a lettuce leaf, her earrings cranberries, her body and arms pickle slices,a potato slice as a top, her hair is two pieces of cooked pasta, and her head is a red pepper. She's held together by pins , safety pins , and a skewer. There's a potato holding her up behind her too. Her eyes are little slices of pickle and the yellow is the head of pins. My idea for the day was to make something out of the first fruit or vegetable I see when I enter my kitchen. So I decided why not make it all out of vegetables?

hot chocolate nails day 5

Today I needed to make something with a collection of mine or a friends so I decided to do a nail design I've not tried yet. I did a base coat of purple and then free handed a cup of hot chocolate with a orange micro brush. Then I did little white steam squiggles with a white micro brush, and I put a topcoat on. I didn't have enough room to do cups on my other nails so I just did big white squiggles. At first I thought about doing the cup with a stencil but then I decided it would look better if I did it with the brush alone. And voila ! it came out great ;) .

sugar scrub !!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday I went to a place called Glory Bee , and they sell soap and candle stuff so I got a couple scents and one was called oatmeal honey and milk. I thought that would be a great scent for sugar scrub. Making it was way easier than I thought it would be. I used half a cup of olive oil and a cup of brown sugar. Then all you do is mix it up and add a couple drops of the scent. And that made quite a bit of the scrub. I used it this morning and my skin is all soft and nice smelling.

Today I took a walk and used the things around me. I had to leave it somewhere where someone else could find it so, I left it by a mailbox.
I picked some ferns and arranged them into a little fan. I used a reed as a stem.
Hopefully when Mr.mystery goes to get his mail he'll( or she'll) find my surprise.
And luckily it was raining today so that added to the creative mood.
I've noticed that most of the people I know don't like rain. I mean in Oregon you have to get used to it right? So I decided to embrace the wet. As long as its not pouring drenching rain , I like it. And as a plus right now i don't even own a raincoat so its not like I'm dry while enjoying the rain.

Today my challenge was to make something out of paper without cutting, gluing, or drawing on it, so I made this lake and put some cranes and a water lily to float on it.
I crumpled some shiny green tissue paper around it to depict foliage. The flower came out a little bigger than I thought it would and it kind of dwarfs the cranes.

At first I thought about ripping up some paper and then making a picture out of it, but then I figured that's like finding a loophole from the no scissors rule. So I made this scene.

I started "A daily creativity journal 365" by Noah Scalin yesterday. It is such a great book! My first inspiration was " The first step is the hardest, so start small and make something that fits in the palm of your hand using only materials in your immediate environment. So I thought I'd literally use my hand! I used Q tips to dab on sauce and define it.

This is what I did on day two of my adventure. My inspiration is " what's your favorite animal? Use it as your inspiration today ". I haven't really thought about what my favorite animal is. But I thought along the lines of, what animal do I like to watch and look at? Jellyfish are so fluid and smooth.
I took a box and tissue paper and hung jelly fish from the top. The legs are made of novelty yarn and I put electric candles in the back. My camera didn't show the shadowing though.

This is my beautiful lattice top, the first I have ever pulled off properly. But very sadly my filling was a disaster. The recipe had me grate the apple and I used dried cranberries instead of fresh . The filling was watery and got juice all over the bottom of the oven, and the stove. So I might of helped a little bit. I will never substitute again. The little ones loved it so at least someone ate it.

This is my wonderful awesome apple pie with leaves on top! My filling tasted great, the crust rolled out perfect and was ate in less than 20 minutes. I think that means it was good.
I plan on making more, maybe one for Christmas or thanksgiving. :)

This morning I couldn't find anything in the kitchen that looked good so I made banana bread. Next time I think I'll let it cook longer so it will be less gooey in the middle. I used six bananas for two good sized loaves so I think that turned out good, and as a plus I have midnight snacks too.

When I went out to put my chickens into their coop for the night I saw that all the trees were fabulously outlined by the sunset. There were bats flying about too but the camera (and me) were too slow for them. I'd never seen them at our place before.

I discovered these spider homes when I went out for eggs. They look like little vortex/towers all over our lawn. The dew drops all over the stands of web are inspiring to peer at. The spiders have decided that people homes are comfier than webs. I saw one this afternoon outside the window that was bigger than a quarter!

I have been looking for elegant night gowns for a while now and my mom found these at an estate sale for a dollar each. They're vintage slips but, they will work great as night gowns. There was a half slip too with ornate lace all along the bottom. It seems a shame that such pretty things have always been hidden under layers of clothes. But now they have someone who will appreciate them and think they are gorgeous.

My mom found this idea on another blog and watermelons were on sale! I scooped out all the insides with a ice cream scoop and carved with a bread knife. It is entirely watermelon and held together by tooth picks. I put it outside so the faeries can have it. Betty looked at it too and she approves.

We googled watermelon carving, looking for the blog Mom found, those carvings look so intricate and complicated. My only problem with them is you can't eat them, they're too pretty !

This was my photo shoot this morning with farm fresh eggs! Empress thought they smellled good.

new poem

ears are for hearing,
mouths for sneering,
eyes are for winking,
eyes for blinking,
fingers for snapping,
toes for tapping,

put them together for things to happen!

This is my very own shrunken head! Isn't he awesome? Or it might be a she, I'm not sure. I got him from Marsh's free museum in Long Beach WA. That was the most interesting place I have ever been to. It's jam packed with dried animals, two headed sheep, old dime machines, and skulls! And the main attraction is ... Jake the alligator Man! Oh I almost forgot, greeting you at the front door is a fortune teller, I forget his name unfortunately.

Paper Cranes

I read the book Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by Eleanor Coerr a couple of months ago for school. I really liked it and thought that making all those cranes sounded really cool. I was going to start making cranes asap, but I forgot all about it. A couple days ago I saw something that jogged my memory so I started! I have made 31 so far. I'll have to make five a day 'till my b-day to do it but I'm being positive!

Wish me luck!

Here's a link that will explain the history of the cranes more thoroughly . It has some pretty pictures of other people who have already folded a thousand cranes .

new flamingos

These are my new additions to my flamingo collection. I have been looking for plastic classic flamingos for a long time. I have lots of almost right flamingos, but these are the ones!

I was going to name them but since they are identical I though it would be a bad idea. They might get offended or something. The missing legs are a mystery. The packaging said three pieces but only the bodies were in the bag. I'll have to find them new legs. I'll get different coloured wire so I can name them. I think George and Sue would be appropriate.

Show and Tell Friday

This is my jelly fish.I have seen lots of different patterns for jelly fish, they were usally weren't feathery enough. I knitted the top and crocheted the stingers.I left most of my ends loose so it would be more gossamer and jelly fish like. I used worsted weight and size eight needles. Not sure what size hook.Enjoy! : )

Check out more Show and Tell Friday posts here.

new shoes

I found these perfect shoes at a garage sale a couple weeks ago. I love the little ribbons, don't you? Plus they were a dollar!

I'm also collecting flip flops and I have over ten pairs now! And they are all in different colors (yay!)

They break very easily though. Or I'm just mean to them, one of those. I'm not sure what my goal is concerning the flip flops. I should like have a number I wish to achieve. Betty doesn't get my flip flops or getting excited over a pair of green shoes. She thinks I'm being silly.
